Who Is "Allah"?
The name "Allah" is a word that is heard quite
often these days whether it is on the television or
passed along in conversation. But most non-Muslims have
no idea who Allah is.
The Unity of Allah: Islam affirms the
Unity of Allah (God) and His indivisible sovereignty
over the Universe. Allah is the Creator, the Master,
the Sustainer of all that exists. Everything operates
according to His plan.
Pondering on
the Signs of God: In the Qur’an, it is
stated that the unbeliever is one who neither recognizes
nor appreciates the signs of God. The distinguishing
mark of a believer is his ability to see those signs
and proofs.
Allah - Both
Transcendent and Immanent: Of central importance
to the Islamic creed is a firm belief in Allah (God)1
that accords with the precepts set in the Qur’an
and Sunnah.
Islam and the
Nature of the Universe: The last of the Abrahamic
religions, following Judaism and Christianity, Islam
considers the creation of the universe as ultimate proof
of the existence of one Creator who “is that dimension
which makes other dimensions possible.
Is Allah a Special
God for Muslims? There is often confusion among
non-Arabic speakers that "Allah" is a special
god for Muslims. However, Muslims believe that there
is no deity worth of worshiping accept the One True
God.
My Mercy Prevails
Over My Wrath: “The willingness to forgive
and not to punish” is a definition frequently
used for the word mercy, but what is mercy in Islam?
With Islam, mercy was given a deeper meaning that created
a vital aspect in the life of every Muslim, which he
is rewarded by God (Allah) for showing.
Belief: Five
Pillars: Muslims believe in only One God, the
same God that Jews and Christians believe in, but some
of the ideas about the nature of God are different.
First, let us clarify that “Allah” is simply
the Arabic word for God, just as “Dios”
or “Dieu” are the words for God in Spanish
and French, respectively.
Allah: The Creator-The
Omniscient-The Self Sufficient: Allah is the
proper name applied to the only true God Who exists
necessarily by Himself, comprising all the excellent
Divine names and attributes of perfection. Allah is
One and Unique; He has no partner or equal. He is the
sole Creator and sustainer of the universe. Every creature
bears witness to His Oneness.
Is Allah Pleased
with Me? It should be known that obedience
to Allah is one of the chief reasons for attaining Allah’s
pleasure, while disobedience to Him is a reason for
being subject to His wrath. This point is emphasized
repeatedly in the Quran and Sunnah.
